Ascending mount Kenya through Naru-Moru is the most
popular and the quickest to the southern side of mount
Kenya. Most hikkers to mount Kenya get best access to it
from Nairobi through Naru-Moru. Mount Kenya Naru-Moru
route to Teleki valley is therefore the shortest way to
its peaks. Its the most densely populated mount Kenya
route because its the shortest route up. Hikers like it
for its obvious trail.
Mount Kenya climbers reach a steep marshy section known
as the vertical blog one hour from the Met section. This
is the most tedious part of Naru-Moru route and after
three to four hours, the path reaches the crest of mount
Kenya Naro-Moru ridge overlooking Teleki valley (4,000M)
The Naro-Moru path contours along the right hand side of
mount Kenya Teleki valley, keeping high and then
gradually descending to pass Naro-Moru stream to
Mackinder's camp (4,200M). From Met station, to
Mackinder's accommodation point, climbers take 5-6 hours
of hiking. Hiking to Austrian hut takes four hours and
within 45 minutes, you see point Lenana, at 4,985 metres.
Day 1: -Nairobi-Naromoru.
Depart Nairobi in the morning at 8am, via Thika arriving
at Naro moru in time for lunch. After lunch dropped at
the main gate where the climbing starts. It is about 3
to 4 hours walk through the rain forest to Met. Station
hut where you will be having dinner and overnight.
Day 2: -Met Station-Mackinders Hut.
After breakfast continue with the ascent to Mackinder's
camp, with parked lunch arriving at the camp in the
evening. Dinner and the overnight at the camp (it's
about 5-6 hrs walk.)
Day 3: -Mackinders-Lenana point-Mackinders.
Very early morning start at 0230hrs attempt to climb
point Lenana at 17,058ft.Thereafter commence your
descent to Mackinders camp for meals and overnight.
Day 4: -Mackinders-met Station-Nairobi.
After breakfast descend back to Met. Station gate where
you will be met by our driver who will drive you back to
Naromoru for lunch. Afternoon drive back to Nairobi and
drop at city hotel or at the airport.
