11 DAYS KENYA
AND TANZANIA
Day 01
Drive northwards through the farmlands of the Kikuyu people to
reach Mount Kenya and the small town of Nyeri in time for lunch.
In the early afternoon drive through the forest to your tree
hotel where the night is spent high above the floodlit waterhole
and saltlick. Frequent visitors are elephant, rhino, buffalo and
the giant forest hog. Overnight at your tree hotel.
Day 02
After breakfast flank Mount Kenya and descend into the dry and
rugged semi-desert where Samburu National Reserve is situated.
Harsh but beautiful this reserve harbours many species of
animals not found in the more lush parks to the south. Afternoon
game drive with dinner and overnight at Sarova Shaba Lodge or
similar
Day 03
The day is spent exploring this reserve. You will almost
certainly see the graceful reticulated giraffe, Gravy's zebra,
elephant and the oryx-perhaps the origin of the legend of the
unicorn. Overnight at the Sarova Shaba Lodge or similar.
Day 04
After breakfast drive to Lake Nakuru stopping en-rout for a
brief look at the magnificent Thomson's Falls where the waters
of the Ngare Naru cascade in a sheer drop of 73 metres. Lunch at
Nakuru before visiting the world famous bird sanctuary and
National Park where the sight of the million or more flamingo
has been described by Sir Peter Scott as, "the world's greatest
bird spectacle". Dinner and overnight at the Sarova Lion Hill or
Similar.
Day 05
Leave Lake Nakuru after breakfast with picnic lunches. Cross the
Kenya/Tanzania border arriving Musoma late in the afternoon.
Dinner and overnight at the Peninsula Hotel
Day 06
Depart for Serengeti after breakfast arriving in time for lunch.
Afternoon game drive with dinner and overnight at the Serengeti
Sopa Lodge or similar.
Day 07
Full day in Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at the Serengeti
Sopa Lodge or similar.
Day 08
Morning game drive in the Serengeti and lunch. After lunch
proceed to Ngorongoro via Olduvai. Dinner and overnight at
Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge or similar.
Day 09
Full day crater tour with picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at
the Ngorongoro Sopa or similar.
Day 10
After breakfast depart for Tarangire National Reserve. Arriving
in time for lunch. Afternoon depart for Game Drive. Dinner and
overnight at the Tarangire Sopa lodge or similar.
Day 11
After breakfast leave for Arusha. Lunch . Leave for Nairobi with
2.00 pm shuttle, arriving Nairobi in the evening.
